In a strategic move that is bound to have far-reaching implications, systems integration giant Cognizant has taken over 10th Magnitude, an exponentially growing unit of the Microsoft ecosystem. Cognizant hopes to set up an ambitious Azure sales target. The professional 10th Magnitude team will complement New Signature, another top-of-the-line Microsoft solution provider that was acquired by Cognizant last month.
The financial angles of the deal have not been made public yet, but the acquisition is expected to go through by the third quarter of this year.
The agreement to takeover Chicago-based 10th Magnitude, a cloud specialist operating on the Microsoft Azure platform, is a winning game plan for Cognizant. It will enable the company to grow its Microsoft Azure know-how within its Microsoft Business Group. The ball had already been set rolling as 10th Magnitude is the sixth acquisition by Cognizant of cloud-related platforms this year.
It is obvious now that Cognizant wants to expand and accelerate its cloud strategy exponentially. The President of Cognizant, Greg Hyttenrauch, said:
CEO Alex Brown of 10th Magnitude echoes a similar sentiment. He feels that the Azure experts of 10th Magnitude will work in sync with Cognizant to improve the extent and scale for clients, helping them to compete more efficiently on a highly effective platform.
The acquisition is forecasted to work seamlessly for Cognizant. It is already a Microsoft Gold Partner over different technology classifications. In 2020, the company was named Microsoft Partner of the Year for SAP on Azure and U.S. Partner for Modern Workplace—Apps & Solutions for Microsoft Teams.
